Challenges when bringing AI into practice

Drs. E. Stoop, Prof. dr. N.H. Chavannes
Drs. Stoop is an AI specialist at the LUMC, that focuses on bringing AI into the clinic by implementing self-made and external model, and validating the practicalities of these solutions in a scientific manner. Prof. Niels Chavannes is professor of Family Medicine, head of research and founder of the National eHealth Living Lab (NeLL) at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at Leiden University Medical Center.

Privacy & Medical Device Regulation

Dr. R. van Eijk
Dr. Rob van Eijk serves as the Future of Privacy Forum’s Managing Director for Europe. In this role, Eijk will implement FPF’s agenda in Europe, overseeing its day-to-day operations, and manage relationships with stakeholders in industry, government, academia, and civil society. He expects to deploy this expertise in the European tech market, helping local start ups, entrepreneurs and technologists establish the knowledge and expertise needed to navigate tech and innovation policy.

Implementation strategies

Dr. I. Kant
Dr. Ilse Kant is a technical physician and postdoctoral researcher at the LUMC, with a focus on clinical impact assessment and trustworthy implementation of AI solutions in healthcare: Responsible AI. She is involved in multiple projects that aim to investigate the value of AI in clinic care, and has experience in implementing AI solutions in collaboration with many stakeholders such as nurses, physicians, clinical physicists, IT specialists and start-up companies. Further, she is one of the authors of the new Dutch field norm for development, validation, implementation and evaluation of AI for healthcare in the Netherlands.

Public private partnerships: do’s and don’ts

Dhr. H. Hofstraat (Philips)
Dr Hans Hofstraat is Vice President and Senior Fellow & Program Manager in Philips’ Chief Technology Office (CTO), as well as member of the CTO Management Team. Hans works with teams within Philips Research, and with colleagues within the CTO and in Business and Markets across the globe, on innovations in clinical domains such as Cardiovascular Diseases, Oncology and Neurology, and towards universal and equitable Access to Care. He aims to combine clinical insights and context with the opportunities offered by digital healthcare. Together with partners within and beyond Philips, Hans is passionate about identifying major needs in the health-technology domain, and to address these by developing meaningful solutions underpinned by proven outcomes. His aim is always to achieve innovations that broaden access to appropriate care and improve quality of life for patients and healthcare professionals. Public-private partnerships, with key stakeholders in healthcare, are key enablers to reach this goal.

Interdisciplinary team assignment – part 3

Further work on the use-case of day 1, now focusing on the implementation phase. Among others, participants define potential privacy issues related to their AI-solution and work on an implementation strategy.
